Owatonna Business Women Monthly Meeting: SteeleCoWorks, Anisha Zak

  • Tuesday, January 21, 2020
  • 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Owatonna Country Club

The SteeleCoWorks program was created through a partnership with the Owatonna Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Steele County and Workforce Development, Inc. The three organizations came together to create a position for a career counselor to work with youth across Steele County and provide them opportunities with and exposure to our local businesses. Research shows that 25% of graduating high school students are not planning to attend college or go into the military and are not sure what they want to do after high school graduation. This position was created to help those students develop a personalized career plan.

Anisha Zak, winner of the 2018 Young Careerist award from OBW, was adopted as an infant from an orphanage in Calcutta, India. She grew up in the great big city of Claremont, MN. Anisha graduated high school from Triton in Dodge Center, and earned her bachelor’s degree in Family Life and Child Development from MN State University, Mankato. She previously worked as the School-Aged Care Director at St. Mary’s School and as a Match Support Specialist at Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Anisha and her husband Brian have three young children. In her free time…well, she doesn’t have free time. Did you read the part about having 3 young children?
